Pre-cut Spruce

Our production derives mainly from northern spruce, pine and fir (black spruce, red spruce, white spruce, Jack pine and balsam fir). We supply pallet manufacturers and recyclers throughout Canada and the United States.

To achieve the right combination of grades and prices our team developed an innovative approach. We first visit customers in order to understand their needs (pallet manufacturers and end users). Then there are many visits to the mills with pallet manufacturers to educate them about the mills’ manufacturing capacities and limitations. In this way we were able to develop the right grades for the right customers.

Today our grading system is based on the following specifications:

• Thickness:+ or – and tapering or not
• Width:+ or –
• Length:+ or –
• Wane:maximum thickness on maximum length as a % of pieces
• Rot:maximum thickness, width and length as a % of pieces
• Split:maximum length as a % of pieces
• Knots:maximum diameter and soundness
• Shake:% of the pieces
• Stain:if the wood is “white” and “sound”
• Surface:smoothness
• Bundling:strapping, number of pieces, identification
